So a little backstory first: I cofounded a hockey team with someone I work with. The team was made up entirely of coworkers, and we had a great time playing together. But then he and I disagreed on how an event for the team should be run, and he went behind my back to exclude me from the team. He has since tried to advertise the team more at work, claiming it is a charity organization. Knowing this is wrong, I have since reported it to HR. Now for the dream: I was at a hockey rink, just enjoying being at the open skate, when I saw one of my former teammates. Then I notice that another player and the other cofounder have a table set up at the entrance to recruit people to the team and ask for donations. It upsets me, and I throw water at them, but high in the air so no one sees me. I then run to a locker room near the public skate to take a shower, but I notice the water turns to green powerade. I walk out of the room in my towel and see the three former teammates with a bucket of powerade coming from the maintence room and I confront the cofounder (who is a former cop). I drag him onto the ice and then slam him into the wall. He then pulls out a pair of handcuffs and says I'm under arrest for assault- and I yell that he knew I was allergic to powerade, but he ignores me
This dream is rich with symbolism and appears to be deeply connected to your real-life conflict over the hockey team and the emotions surrounding it. Let's break it down into the elements for a better understanding:
Hockey Rink: The setting of the hockey rink reflects your connection to the team and your past experiences. Ice often symbolizes the subconscious or emotions, something beneath the surface — suggesting unresolved feelings about the situation with your cofounder.
Open Skate and Former Teammates: Being at an open skate signifies freedom or neutrality, possibly your desire to return to a more carefree, non-conflicted state with your team. Seeing your former teammate indicates unresolved feelings or nostalgia for how things used to be.
Recruiting Table and Donations: This scene represents your feelings of betrayal and injustice regarding how the team is now being marketed falsely as a charity. It highlights your ongoing disapproval and discomfort with the actions of the other cofounder in the waking world.
Throwing Water: Water typically symbolizes emotions. Throwing it secretly implies your hidden frustration or anger about the situation. Doing it discreetly reflects your desire to express these feelings without public conflict or confrontation.
Shower with Powerade: The shower suggests a need for cleansing or renewal — letting go of old grievances. However, the transformation of water into green Powerade, especially considering your stated allergy in the dream, points to feelings of being contaminated or overwhelmed by something harmful or fake, associated with your issues around the team's new direction. Green is often associated with envy or betrayal, emphasizing these themes.
Confrontation and Violence on Ice: Confronting the cofounder directly represents your underlying desire to resolve this issue face-to-face. Dragging him onto the ice and slamming him into the wall suggests intense feelings of hurt and betrayal you're grappling with, with the "ice" amplifying the motif of exposing what has been concealed.
Handcuffs and Arrest: Being handcuffed by the former cop cofounder signifies your feeling trapped or punished for standing up against his actions. It reflects your fear that the truth will not be acknowledged and instead you will be unjustly blamed.
Allergy to Powerade: This detail presents a metaphor for how deeply and personally you feel affected by the situation. It's a way for your subconscious to express how the team's changes are not just wrong but potentially harmful to your well-being.
Overall, this dream captures an intense emotional struggle and highlights themes of betrayal, justice, and the desire for resolution. It underscores your feeling of being wronged and your wish for recognition of the truths you hold, urging you to seek closure, either internally or through further action in your waking life.
